Cultivating a Thriving Agricultural Economy

an all-day field curriculum for land use professionals

Starting with Kathryn Gardow’s vision and leadership, about one hundred land use professionals have benefited from multiple offerings of this all-day field curriculum. Since launching in 2013 as part of ULI Northwest’s Center for Sustainable Leadership program, Kathryn and Stephen Antupit have updated and conducted several subsequent versions of this innovative and important in-the-field learning experience.

  • Co-hosted multiple, full-day field workshops to see, hear, taste and discuss the complexity of partnerships, economics, and political sensitivities navigated to preserve and support agricultural diversity in Skagit Valley.
  • Designed and led the full-day curriculum for land use professionals through the Urban Land Institute Northwest’s Center for Sustainable Leadership and the American Planning Association’s National Conference.
  • Consistently rated excellent for content, value, and as an enjoyable experience by about 100 professional participants from regional, national and international audiences.
